Objective

There were a number of freelance projects I worked on while I was developing the Workstyle Model within an existing chain of boutique cafes called Elysian Coffee. There is no common thread other than these were “pet” projects of the principals I worked with. I was happy to employ a wide array of skills that required both the right and left side of my brain to solve particular business problems.

Summary

Certainly graphic arts production* work figures prominently this freelance period. Many projects were ideas developed as visualization exercises or prototypes to encourage participation of Elysian staff, people associated with Elysian or attract potential outside investors. Most of the work was commissioned on behalf of the people who were driving and sponsoring the development of the Workstyle Model and online assessment tool. There were even some personal websites I developed for people that were considered future stakeholders in the rolling out of Workstyle.

I was also involved in preparing workshops and presentations to develop future Workstyle associates. Two individuals, in particular, were transitioning from salaried positions into independent business consultants. Brand work was developed to help kickstart their new careers.

Besides creating associates to Workstyle, Elysian wanted to find other ways to bring Workstyle to market. One of the ways was to create a systems company that would be developed out of their coffee machine sales and service business.

There were other projects that were not directly related to the ongoing effort to develop Workstyle. AAB Finance, for example, is a company owned by the Elysian people to help finance coffee equipment they market nationwide. There were also programs within Elysian such as improving project management practices and developing better self-management of department managers.
